HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR PLUMBING SYSTEM

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR PLUMBING SYSTEM

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR PLUMBING SYSTEM

Have you ever faced a plumbing problem before? Ever needed to fix any issue with your plumbing? Have you ever thought of ways to prevent plumbing issues? Or have you ever thought of ways to maintain your plumbing system? Well, if you have ever thought of these, then this is for you.

Today, we will share possible ways of maintaining your plumbing system and avoiding plumbing issues.

  • Install Screens over shower and tub drains

By installing screens over the shower and tub trains, items such as hairs, soap residues and other unwanted items won’t find their way into the drains, hence preventing the drains from getting blocked and also preventing a clogging issue.

  • Adjust water pressure

A water pressure gauge may determine if your water pressure is too high or too low. Connect the water pressure gauge to a faucet to do so. By shutting off all the taps, you may determine your baseline water pressure. The pressure in the water should be between 30 and 80 psi (per square inch). Too much water pressure can damage fixtures, raise your water bill, and cause appliances to break down more quickly. Hidden leaks, mineral buildup in the pipes, or the location of your property might cause water pressure issues. A plumber can assist you with adjusting your water pressure, which is an important element of plumbing maintenance.

  • Avoid flushing of unnecessary items

Only your own waste and toilet paper should get flushed down the toilet. Because a toilet bowl is not a garbage can, items such as sanitary goods, cotton swabs, plastic, hair, and cardboard can accumulate in the line and clog it. Hence, it is important to avoid flushing unnecessary items.

  • Periodic inspections of the plumbing system for leaks

Inspect any exposed pipes in your house for signs of corrosion or deterioration regularly. Rust, warping, and water droplets on the exterior of the pipes all signal a problem that a professional plumber should address. With this in mind, a periodic inspection will help avoid unknown dangers on the plumbing system.

  • Drain your water heater

Drain your water heater once or twice a year to eliminate sediment. Your water heater may accumulate silt over time, making it less efficient.

You may avert a catastrophic plumbing problem by doing preventive maintenance on your plumbing. After inspection to keep them maintained, you may need to repair them. Although some repairs may be completed by you while others may cause professional help. Remember not to go overboard with your maintenance process. Do routine checks and troubleshooting. Get professional help when necessary.
